Hello,I’ve subscribed to your “Activities 2 Go” magazine for several years and I’m always particularly interested in Men’s Group activities. We have a Men’s Shed, affectionately known as “The Dog House” and our residents enjoy making items that we sell on a craft stall with goods from the Ladies Craft group. The men meet with a male volunteer every fortnight and, as well as creating wonderful things, they watch fishing or car racing DVD’s; old John Wayne movies; listen to CD’s; or go on men only outings to the RSL or the local marina, or boat building place……and they always finish their session with a beer!
Our shed is big enough to fit them all in and we are currently decorating it with car bits and pieces and posters.
In your March/April issue earlier this year, you had a gift idea that I thought would be wonderful for the men to make. It was the Exercise Block. We decided to make them as fun Christmas gifts……so the men made 10. These all sold in the first day!! We couldn’t believe how popular they were and they didn’t even make it to the craft stall! So……we’ve since made 20 more!! (photos attached) and the orders are coming thick and fast.
Thank you for your brilliant idea and keep up the good work. I always look forward to your magazine and reading what other facilities are doing as well as using all your great resources. Regards, Marina

I must congratulate you for the wonderful resources & ideas your company provide for Diversional Therapy/Activity Staff.
Your magazines provide inspiration and makes our job so much easier.

Our residents look forward to doing activities via publications of “Activities 2 Go”. in the past it has been very popular, easy to read, clear to follow with lots of fun things to do for resthome residents of all ages with different disabilities that they may have. Their favourite things to do are quiz pages, history and events that come up on a certain day via your publication. I go back and use material from time to time in different publications, so i look forward to new additions that are on print in the future.

December 2009: Hi Web of Life, I'd just like to thank you for the pick-a-box quizzes in Activities 2 Go magazines. The number of people with hearing difficulties has increased at my facility and pick-a-box is the perfect answer to enable everyone to be involved in a quiz session. Not only does each resident get to pick a question and try answering it, but I can quickly show the other deaf residents the question after it has been read out.
Thanks again, Elspeth

We absolutely love your magazine. It has wonderful and innovative ideas.

Hi There!  As the busy Co-ordinator of a Seniors Day Respite Centre, I was very impressed with the free download copy of Activities 2 Go Magazine.  My staff are also understandably very keen to receive a copy each month…

Hi there!
Just thought I’d send you some pictures of our St Patrick’s Day display.
Our residents enjoyed making the rainbow mobiles. We have many hanging from the ceiling and they are so very effective.
I have also made 2 large leprechauns which are hanging on our feature wall among the many shamrocks which I copied and enlarged from your magazine.
There are some wonderful activity ideas in your magazine and we are delighted to “have a go” at them.
Keep up the good work!
DL, Senior Recreational Activities Officer, CD Nursing Home

To the editor,

We would like to thank you very much for providing us with a great idea for our ‘Biggest Morning Tea.” Our theme was, “The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party” and the residents and staff used the theatre reading in the May edition of Activities 2 Go magazine, along with scenery and costumes on the day. We invited lots of family and friends, and enjoyed a wonderful morning tea and a terrific performance by some of our residents; it was a great success! We raised $738.30 for cancer research, our biggest amount yet.

Thank-you for this wonderful magazine! We use it every month and it helps to make the job we do so much easier,

Regards, BW, Lifestyle Coordinator

Hi In May we ran a very successful Mother’s Day Activity. We held an afternoon tea for our ladies over 3 days, as there is 80 of them. We asked for donations of china cups, saucers and plates and were overwhelmed by the generosity of family and staff.

I made lovely flower placemats by downloading pictures and laminating them. We had lovely lace tablecloths and flowers. With the craft activity in your magazine, we made decorations for the walls. As suggested, we cut pink cardboard into squares and pasted on the Mother’s Day poem you supplied, edged it with lace and joined them together by pink ribbon. These looked lovely hanging up on the walls.

Our presents were cards with lavender on them. We made lovely cakes and donned pretty aprons and served everything to our residents. They had a marvellous time and said the room looked beautiful.

Your magazines are great!!

Thanks, RC, Lifestyle Coordinator

Our Mallee Men’s Group decided to show their creative and artistic cooking abilities by preparing a Raspberry Trifle for Dessert. They followed the recipe for the trifle in the September issue of Activities 2 Go, but even more followed the ‘Recipe for a Happy Day.’ We trust our photos will illustrate the fun and laughter, the inspiration and the camaraderie shared amongst this group.

We love your magazine. It has wonderful and innovative ideas. A special thank-you for your Daffodil garden idea. We decided to charge every-one $1 for their daffodil and send this donation to the cancer foundation. We raised fifty dollars altogether, which I think is outstanding. The cancer foundation is very special, as there are not many families that haven’t been touched by some form of cancer. This is especially true (where I work) as last December, a long time recreational activities and nursing care employee passed away rather suddenly from this dreadful disease. This was a wonderful way in which we could pay tribute to her, so once again, thank-you. We have enclosed a couple of photos of our wonderful afternoon,

Yours faithfully, CJ. RAO.

The Silverwood Men’s group got crafty with our Lavender Craft ideas

I am writing to let you know how much I enjoy receiving your ‘Activities 2 Go’magazine each month. I find it full of great ideas, information and activities and our residents here enjoy participating in Pick-a-Box, What-am-I quizzes, Morning Coffee Memories, Poems etc. Also some of the craft projects as well are very successful, giving lots of pleasure on completion for our residents.

Enclosed are photos of two such craft projects we have used from this great magazine recently, giving our residents a sense of pride, achievement and fun, which they can share with their families and friends. We especially had lots of fun with the Daffodil garden and daffodil quiz and I have received lots of positive feedback on our display which was a very special way to celebrate Daffodil Day.
So keep up the good work with this great magazine and I will continue to look forward to receiving each copy which is of great assistance to me in planning a fun and enjoyable activity program for our residents.

Kind Regards, DK, Activity Co-ordinator
